The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer

“The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” – James 5:16

“The Power of Prayer”

A statement made up of simple words that seem so cliché, even familiar and over used.

Prayer is something that we struggle to understanding.

We can grasp what it is, but we have a hard time defining it to others.

Perhaps a simple definition would be, “Confidently and intentionally addressing ourselves to God.”

We thank Him, confess to Him, even complain, argue and express our concerns to Him through prayer.

We pray for others as well as ourselves.  We pray audibly as well as silently

Or moods change constantly based on our particular life situation; our minds may wander while we pray; and our prayer time may be long or short.

However, in all these situations...we are conscientiously seeking a deliberate audience with the Lord.

Prayer is a powerful tool for communicating with our Creator; it is an opportunity to commune with the Giver of all things good.  It helps us find strength to face every situation in every day...and it helps us find hope for tomorrow.  Prayer is not to be taken lightly or something to be drug out only when we find ourselves in a tough, scary or tense situation.

Instead, prayer should be an integral part of our daily life.

It is not to be a hit-or-miss habit.

Do you “pray without ceasing” as Paul commanded?

Is your prayer life characterized as intentional or an afterthought?

Do you regularly seek a quiet and solitude place to seek God?

The quality of your spiritual life will be in direct proportion to the quality of your prayer life.

Prayer is a game changer!

Instead of worrying about you next decision, try turning it over to God and allow him to lead you the way He wants you to go.  Don’t limit your prayers to mealtime and bedtime.

Instead realize that prayer is a sharp sword that can cut even the toughest of issues; make opportunities even better; sharpen the mind; and provide comfort during uncertainty.

God wants to hear from you.

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

“Prayer shouldn’t be causal or sporadic, dictated only by the needs of the moment.  Prayer should be as much a part of our lives as breathing.” - Billy Graham

“Prayer is not a work that can be allocated to one or another group in the church.  It is everybody’s responsibility; it is everybody’s privilege.” – A.W. Tozer

“God shapes the world by prayer.  The more praying there is in the world, the better the world will be, and the mightier will be the forces against evil.” E.M.Bounds

“Prayer connects us to God’s limitless potential.”– Henry Blackaby
